[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The Indiana University Women’s Philanthropy Leadership Council honored our Founder and Chair Marcela Orvañanos de Rovzar with the Women Leading the Way Award on Tuesday, May 29 in Mexico City. This award honors women associated with Indiana University for their extraordinary achievements in philanthropy that improve their own communities and inspire others to act in service of positive change.
Marcela Orvañanos de Rovzar is a Mexican philanthropist with rich experience in institutional development and capacity building for nonprofit organizations, foundations and other institutions within civil society. Marcela is the founder and currently the Chair of the Board of Directors at Qualitas of Life Foundation, a nonprofit organization that provides basic financial education to Hispanic individuals and their families in order to foster their financial security and improve their standard of living. In 1995, she founded Procura, a training institution in Mexico City that offers courses on institutional development and fundraising for nonprofit organizations.

Your outstanding achievements both in Mexico and in the U.S. through the creation of Procura Asistencia and Qualitas of Life Foundation, as well as your service to the Lilly Family School of Philanthropy and to many initiatives and activities in Mexico, make you an extremely fitting recipient of this award” said Laurie Burns McRobbie, Founding Honorary Chair of the Women’s Philanthropy Leadership Council.
Burns presented Marcela Orvañanos with the award during a breakfast to honor Marcela’s achievement in Mexico City.
Orvañanos is the sixth recipient of the Women Leading the Way Award, following Patty Stonesifer (2013), Martha Tilaar (2015), Maureen Hackett (2015), Jane Chu (2017) and Glenn Close (2017).
